Salary: $8,111/month


Position Information:

Plans and directs the activities of a major and extensively organized engineering branch or bureau, or assists in administering the overall activities of a major engineering division; directs the preparation of designs, plans, specifications, estimates and reports; and performs other related duties as required.

There is one vacancy with the Department of Design and Construction, Wastewater Division.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in civil engineering.

A reproduced copy of your diploma and/or transcript, which shows the embossed seal, must be submitted in order to given credit. Copies will not be returned. Four years of registered professional civil engineering experience, including or supplemented by two years of administrative engineering experience.

Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision and administration; principles and practices of civil engineering involved in planning and directing the design, construction, maintenance and operation of large public works and improvement projects; and methods, techniques and practices used in the preparation of plans, specifications, estimates and reports; and the ability to review, analyze and revise plans and specifications relating to a variety of engineering projects; work harmoniously with other governmental units and the general public; and address public meetings or groups.

License Requirement:
1. Current State of Hawaii registration as a professional engineer in Civil Engineering. You must submit a copy of your professional license within 7 days of filing your application. Mail or drop off: Department of Human Resources, 650 South King Street, 10th Floor, Honolulu, HI 96813.

Applicants with an out-of-state license in Civil Engineering must obtain their Hawaii license prior to appointment.

2. Valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type 3) prior to appointment.
