Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children is well recognized as Hawai‘i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 207 beds and 66 bassinets, the nonprofit hospital is Hawai‘i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is also a tertiary care, medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency care, neonatal and pediatric air transport and children’s specialty clinics. With a dedicated team of more than 1,300 employees and 604 physicians, the hospital is home to Kapi‘olani Women’s Center, Kapi‘olani Breast Center and Kapi‘olani Women’s Cancer Center, the state’s only dedicated breast health and gynecological cancer centers. Kapi‘olani offers numerous community programs and services, such as the Kapi‘olani Child Protection Center and Sex Abuse Treatment Center, and through our affiliation with the University of Hawai‘i, we are home to the John A. Burns School of Medicine Pediatrics and OB/GYN residency programs.

Our Quality Management team strengthens the organization by promoting a data-driven approach to systematic quality and improvement. The team maintains accreditation status with The Joint Commission and with Federal and State regulating agencies. It supports the mission of the organization by ensuring that appropriate quality tools are used to measure and facilitate performance improvements, and promoting a culture of safety. Among other services, the department staff participates in national quality programs to ensure the monitoring of quality performance and evaluate how standards are being met.

If you are a perceptive observer with strong organizational skills, you could be the ideal candidate for our Peer Review Clinical Coordinator, who is crucial to maintaining high standards of performance excellence among our clinical staff. You would be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the peer review system; assuring that clinical reviews are timely and effective; pre-reviewing selected case referrals; providing data analysis; assisting with performance improvement activities, and otherwise supporting the peer review system, committees and chairs. You may also perform studies through review or audit of medical records, as well as develop and maintain a database on peer review trends and prepare reports. We are looking for someone who pays strong attention to detail, is an outstanding manager of information and data analysis, works well in a collaborative, team-oriented atmosphere and shares our commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, or other clinical field and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current Hawaii Registered Nurse (RN) license. One (1) year experience in quality, utilization or peer review coordination.

Preferred Qualifications: Clinical experience.
