Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children is well recognized as Hawai‘i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 207 beds and 66 bassinets, the nonprofit hospital is Hawai‘i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is also a tertiary care, medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency care, neonatal and pediatric air transport and children’s specialty clinics. With a dedicated team of more than 1,300 employees and 604 physicians, the hospital is home to Kapi‘olani Women’s Center, Kapi‘olani Breast Center and Kapi‘olani Women’s Cancer Center, the state’s only dedicated breast health and gynecological cancer centers. Kapi‘olani offers numerous community programs and services, such as the Kapi‘olani Child Protection Center and Sex Abuse Treatment Center, and through our affiliation with the University of Hawai‘i, we are home to the John A. Burns School of Medicine Pediatrics and OB/GYN residency programs.

The Food and Nutrition Services department provides quality nutritious meals to patients, visitors and staff while educating on the importance of healthy eating habits. It also works with medical staff to ensure accurate diet modifications for patients as needed. The department is responsible for performing a variety of general preparation and food service activities, including tray assembly and delivery, working in the cafeteria, cashiering, ware washing, assisting with pantry functions, nourishment activities and catering.

If you are a responsible and caring individual with great communication skills, you could share valuable nutritional and dietary information with Kapi‘olani patients and staff. As the Dietician Aide, you will help to produce patient menus based on individual care plans and needs, as well as other duties related to maintaining patient diet records and general office support for the department. We are looking for someone who pays careful attention to detail, works well others in a collaborative, team-oriented atmosphere and shares our commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum Qualifications: High school or equivalent. Post high school course in Nutrition or Diet Therapy or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Six (6) months food science or related experience.
