Job Title: Echo Technologist, Certified - Echocardiography
Location: Straub Medical Center, Honolulu, HI
Description:
Founded in 1921, Straub Medical Center is a fully integrated nonprofit health care system with a 159-bed tertiary care hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai‘i. With more than 300 employed or contracted physicians who are leaders in their fields, Straub provides its patients with expert diagnoses and treatments for more than 30 different medical specialties, including bone and joint, heart, cancer, endocrinology/diabetes, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, internal medicine, women’s health, vascular and urology. Straub is home to the Pacific Region’s only multi-disciplinary burn treatment center. The hospital consistently brings new technologies and innovative medical practices to Hawai‘i, such as pioneering minimally invasive cardiac surgery and total joint replacement. In 2010, the American Heart Association recognized Straub in three areas of excellence: Coronary Artery Disease (Gold Award), Heart Failure (Silver Award) and Heart Attack (Bronze Award.)

At our Echocardiography department, our highly trained staff employs state-of-the-art technology that uses sound waves to create moving pictures of our patients’ hearts that can pinpoint areas of heart muscle that are not contracting well because of poor blood flow or injury from previous injuries. Echocardiography can also detect possible blood clots inside the heart, fluid buildup in the pericardium and problems with the aorta, as well as identifying heart problems in infants and children. Our Echocardiography department includes specially trained technicians and qualified physicians as part of our award-winning Cardiac Services.

As a Certified Echo Technologist, you will play a key role in helping the Cardiology department at Straub deliver compassionate cardiac care to our patients and their families by performing noninvasive cardio-vascular studies and electro-cardiographic procedures. We are looking for someone with a great sense of quality control, the ability to manage complex instrumentation and procedures and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.
