Performs duties primarily related to the preparation of I.V additive, chemotherapy, irrigating, and specialty solutions. Duties are performed in accordance with standard practices of the profession; departmental and Health System policies, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards, and state and federal laws, maintaining high professional standards and quality of patient services rendered. Maintains computerized patient profiles; prepares labels; prepares patient charges; is responsible for many ancillary functions in the pharmacy in order to maintain an efficient and effective operation. A licensed pharmacist is required to check all work performed by an I.V. Technician.
High school diploma, or equivalent, required. Some college background or equivalent preferred. One (1) year of hospital pharmacy experience with IV admixture training or similar work experience preferred. Basic computer experience required; or any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position.
