Type and Shift
1 Regular Full-Time Position Must be available Monday through Friday 7:00 am – 5:00 pm. May be required to work longer hours, weekends, and/or on different shifts to meet operational needs. Must be flexible with schedule changes in order to meet operational needs.
Provides leadership by planning, organizing, and directing operational activities of the hospital laboratory to support the company mission and vision, and meet strategic goals.
Ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Directs supervisory staff.
Directs the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures.
Manages people resources.
Manages financial resources.
Manages continuous quality improvements.
Works with Laboratory Director and Hospital Administration to ensure service levels meet the needs of the hospital staff and patients.
May be responsible for Decentralized Laboratory Testing (DLT).
Represents management and the company.
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related science and successful completion of training in an approved School of Medical Technology; OR
Bachelor’s degree, relevant training, and comparable work experience.
There may be additional requirements for those serving as General Supervisor and/or Technical Consultant/Supervisor to meet CLIA requirements.
Seven years as MT or MLT with continuing education in one or more disciplines within the laboratory and in laboratory management.
As applicable: Four years of training and/or experience in high complexity testing in the designated specialty(ies) of service for which the person is responsible and 6 months of experience in high complexity testing for the designated subspecialty(ies) of service.
Three years of supervisory or managerial experience.
Certified as an MT/MLS or MLT by one of the following National Commission of Health Certifying Agencies or by an agency recognized by the Hawaii Department of Health Laboratories Branch:
American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP-BOC),
American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB),
American Medical Technologists (AMT)
Hawaii State license as a Technologist or Technician.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both in verbal and written form.
Effective coaching skills.
Intermediate personal computer skills including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and routine database activity. (Ex: email, create letters, format data, use tables, insert objects)
