Description:

Kapi‘olani Medical Specialists (KMS) is a specialty physician group dedicated to caring for Hawai‘i's women and children through excellence in academics, physician training, medical research and clinical care. The group is comprised of over 100 Specialists, Nurse Practitioners and other staff, covering newborn to women's health services at Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children. KMS operates exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes, offering highly specialized care options at Kapi‘olani and building support for these services within Hawai‘i as a whole. The group’s specialty areas include: Behavioral Health Services, Emergency Medicine, Hematology/Oncology, Neonatology and the full spectrum of Pediatrics. Its Women’s specialists include Adult Hospitalists and GYN Oncology.

Palliative care is specialized medical care for people with serious illnesses, which strives to provide patients with relief from the symptoms, pain and stress of their condition. In Palliative Medicine we utilize a multidisciplinary approach, relying on input from professionals across the continuum of treatment to formulate a plan of care that can relieve suffering in as many areas of a patient's life as possible. The Palliative care team aims to address the full spectrum of physical, emotional, spiritual and social concerns that may arise with advanced illness.

If you enjoy working with people and believe in warm, compassionate health care, you could be our next Nurse Practitioner in our Palliative Care department. In this role, you will deliver direct patient care, including evaluation, treatment and technical procedures to a specific group of patients, as well as provide health education, referrals to other disciplines, and consultation with other allied health personnel. We are looking for someone dedicated and experienced, with excellent care and communication skills and a commitment to our vision of delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum Qualifications: Current Hawai‘i Registered Nurse license. Current Hawai‘i Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license. Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) certification in area of specialty. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card. Two (2) years recent Registered Nurse experience.


Preferred Qualifications: Nurse practitioner program. One (1) year advanced practical experience. Teaching and/or public speaking experience.
