Casual Part-Time (Req # 2017-092) Less than 20 hours per week; Regular Full-Time (Req # 2017-097); Various, rotating shifts; must be able to work day, evening, and/or night shifts, weekends & holidays.

Description of Position

Applies the nursing process through assessment, formulating nursing diagnosis, planning, implementing, documenting and evaluating plans of care for assigned patients during the immediate post-operative period, following established standards of nursing practice as delineated by the Medical Center.  Works collaboratively with ancillary nursing personnel, and promotes teamwork with all members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications and Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current RN licensure in the State of Hawaii required.  Minimum one (1) year critical care and/or post anesthesia nursing experience required; medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.  Must complete Post Anesthesia Care Unit orientation manual within one year of employment. Completion of a basic critical care course, or equivalent, required.  Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Provider and Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, with retraining once every two years.  Requires updating and maintaining professional knowledge and skills related to area of responsibility. Must successfully complete orientation to the hospital and supervised training in the department within designated periods.  Effective communication skills with others involved in patient care, both verbally and in writing, required.  Basic working knowledge of computers is highly desirable.
