Type and Shift
1 Regular Full-Time Position Must be available for work Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, weekend and/or evening shift as needed. Must be flexible with schedule changes in order to meet operational needs.
Supervises personnel and operations for assigned area.
Ensures operations of assigned area(s) meet regulatory requirements.
Ensures staffing and work assignments meet operational requirements.
Hires, trains, develops and appraises staff.
Develops, implements and monitors appropriate audit systems.
Participates, leads and facilitates meetings and teams.
Develops, promotes and maintains a positive work climate.
Assists immediate supervisor with activities to support the company mission, vision, and strategic goals.
Develops and implements improvements.
Represents management and the company.
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related science and successful completion of training in an approved School of Medical Technology, OR
Bachelor’s degree, relevant training, and comparable work experience, OR
Associate degree from an accredited School of Clinical Laboratory Sciences and completion of an approved clinical laboratory internship.
Additional requirements may be required for those serving as General Supervisor and/or Technical Consultant/Supervisor to meet CLIA requirements.
Five years as a MT or MLT with continuing education in one or more disciplines within the laboratory.
As applicable: Four years of training and/or experience in high complexity testing in the designated specialty(ies) of service for which the person is responsible and 6 months of experience in high complexity testing for the designated subspecialty(ies) of service.
One year supervisory experience preferred.
Certified as an MT/MLS, MLT, categorical (e.g. M(ASCP) or specialist (e.g. SM(ASCP) by one of the following National Commission of Health Certifying Agencies or by an agency recognized by the Hawaii Department of Health Laboratories Branch:
American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP-BOC)
American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB)
American Medical Technologists (AMT).
Hawaii: State license as Technologist, Technician, or Specialist, as appropriate.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both in verbal and written form.
Ability to work effectively both independently and with a team.
Excellent customer service skills.
Effective coaching skills.
Intermediate personal computer skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and routine database activity. (EX: send/receive emails, create letters, format data, use tables, insert objects)
