Job Summary 1 Regular Full-Time Position
Must be available Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, must be available 24/7.
Must be flexible with schedule changes in order to meet operational needs.

  • Provides overall leadership for areas of responsibility by developing and administering plans, procedures, goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities in areas of responsibility including the development and administration of policies and procedures. Operational business planning, development and monitoring of goals, budget development and management.
  • Provides leadership and direction. Works closely with the Sr. VP., Technical Operations, Medical Director and senior leadership to identify and develop competitive strategies in alignment with the company’s mission and vision.
  • Directs hospital and reference lab operations to ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Qualifications Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related science and successful completion of training in an approved school of medical technology; OR a Bachelor’s degree, relevant training, and comparable work experience.

Experience:

  • Seven years of medical laboratory experience with demonstrated interest in continuing education in one or more disciplines within the laboratory and in laboratory management.
  • Five years in a management position.
  • Reference laboratory experience preferred.

Certification:

  • Certified by an MT by one of the following National Commission of Health Certifying Agencies or by an agency recognized by the Hawaii Department of Health Laboratories Branch:
      • American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP-BOC),
      • American Association of Biocatalysts (AAB), or
      • American Medical Technologists (AMT)

Licensure:

  • Hawaii State License as a Technologist

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both in verbal and written form.
  • Intermediate personal computer skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and routine database activity. (Ex: email, creating letters, formatting data, using tables, inserting objects.)
  • Working knowledge of process improvement methods and quality tools.

Other Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid State of Hawaii (or equivalent) motor vehicle license and a current acceptable traffic abstract.
